The US ambassador to Nigeria has denied allegations made by U.S. Congressman Scott Perry, who claimed that American taxpayer funds were being misused to support terrorist organizations, including Boko Haram.
The U.S. government has firmly denied allegations that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is funding Boko Haram or any other terrorist group in Nigeria.

Ambassador Richard Mills stated that the U.S. has strict measures in place to prevent any diversion of funds and would immediately investigate if any credible evidence emerged.
Richard stated that the U.S. has been a strong partner in Nigeria’s fight against Boko Haram, labeling it as a foreign terrorist organization since 2013.
“The United States categorically rejects any claims that it funds Boko Haram or any terrorist organization in Nigeria. “We stand with the Nigerian government and its people in their fight against terrorism and are committed to supporting efforts to eliminate the threat posed by Boko Haram and other extremist groups”, Mills told journalists at the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) in Abuja.
In response to these allegations, the Nigerian Senate summoned several security agencies and intelligence units to address the issue and discuss the potential implications on national security.
