Chaos breaks in Serbian Parliament as lawmakers exchange blows and throw smoke bombs

Chaos broke out in the parliament of Serbia on March 4 as members of parliament were seen in an aggressive brawl inside the chamber.

The pandemonium started when ruling coalition politicians debated while opposition lawmakers whistled and blew horns. MPs also held signs reading “General strike” and “Justice for the killed,” while outside, protesters stood in silence to honor the 15 victims of the railway station collapse.

The opposition MPs then clashed with security and set off smoke grenades in protest of the ruling coalition’s agenda.

They also exchanged physical blows, lit flares, and threw smoke bombs, filling the chamber with fumes and smog. Several MPs were injured, with one legislator allegedly suffering a stroke.

The unrest stems from months of anti-government protests, which began after a train station collapse that resulted in 15 fatalities.
