A new study reveals that men tend to fall in love twice as quickly as women

Love is a vital instrument as humans as it draws the basis of every form of relationship and bond even between animate and inanimate objects.

Love between men and women requires time, patience, and cooperation from both sides as they both work on the ultimate goal of being a perfect fit for each other. However, a study has shown one side may grow these emotions and feelings before the other.

A study conducted by the Australian National University surveyed 808 young adults, aged 18 to 25, from 33 countries.

The findings revealed that men fall in love faster and more frequently than women. On average, men take just under a month (0.98 months) to fall in love, whereas women take approximately two months (1.92 months).

Men reported having been in love an average of 2.6 times, compared to 2.3 times for women. Despite their young age, the participants had already experienced love multiple times, indicating that romantic love is quite common.

However, even though men fall in love more quickly and often, women tend to experience stronger feelings when they commit. The study found that women exhibit a higher intensity of romantic love, greater commitment, and more obsessive thoughts about their partners.

Researchers suggest that these differences may stem from evolutionary factors: men often prioritize the quantity of potential mates, while women focus on the quality of their relationships.

The findings were published in the journal *Biology of Sex Differences* in February 2025.
