Accra High Court Orders Asamoah Gyan To Pay GH¢25,000 Monthly, Other Properties To His Ex-Wife As Divorce Settlement

After three years of a legal tussle, an Accra High court has on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, has given its ruling on the paternity case between Asamoah Gyan and his former wife.

The court at the end of sitting today, ruled that the three kids of Gifty Gyan are the biological children of the former Black Stars striker.

Asamoah Gyan filed argued that he was not the father of the three children and called for a dissolution of his marriage with Gifty Gyan.

A DNA test was done on the orders of the court which confirmed that all three children were actually the children of the former Black Stars captain.

Justice Hafisata Amelebob who sat on the case ruled that on the basis of the DNA results, provided as evidence, the court confirms the children were the footballer’s kids and also ruled that the 2013 marriage between Asamoah and Gifty was valid and still in effect.

In view of that, she went on to issue a decree of nullity, canceling the 2013 marriage and granting them divorce.

As the divorce settlement, the court ordered Asamoah Gyan to pay Gifty Gyan the amount of 25,000 Ghana cedis every month for the upkeep of the three children. This  excludes school fees, medical and dental care, and flight tickets among other childcare costs

Gifty Gyan was also awarded the former player’s mansion in the United Kingdom and a four-bedroom house at Spintex, Ghana as compensation to her for the upkeep of the children to allow Gyan to work and make money.

This is in addition to a BMW vehicle and an Infiniti belonging to Asamoah Gyan, as well as a piece of land earmarked for the construction of a filling station.
