Brig. Gen. Baccay stated, “I have ordered an in-depth investigation on this incident and we are looking into all angles to establish possible motives. We are exerting all means to get to the bottom of this sad incident and we are now in the process of collecting pieces of proof that will direct us to the identification of the culprit/s.”

According to his sister Arlene Supan, Barangay Alasas chief Alvin Mendoza was leaving his house around 7:00 a.m. when the shooting incident occurred.

At roughly 08:50 a.m., Mendoza died while being treated at a government facility. Mendoza, 51, was running under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan banner with mayoralty candidate Vilma Caluag. The entire affair is being investigated by cops.

Baccay, who is investigating the case, promised the public and the victim’s family of their absolute commitment to ensuring an immediate conclusion of the issue through a thorough investigation. Mendoza was in his vehicle, on his way to Brgy. Maglinam, when the suspects on a motorcycle attacked him along Purok 3 in the same barangay, according to him.

According to officials, he was immediately rushed to the San Fernando Hospital for medical care but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Baccay noted that while all cases are important to him, this event will be regarded as the most important because a local official is involved.
