Scientists have long speculated about the existence of other universes, but what does this mean? Physicists are increasingly beginning to accept the idea that the universe may be not the only possible reality. In fact, the idea of other universes is known as the multiverse, and it refers to the vast expanse of possible universes. Though the exact nature of their interactions is not known, some scientists believe that other universes exist.
The cosmological multiverse is one of the most popular theories of multiverses. It suggests that the universe is a vast system of interconnected universes, each containing similar features. These regions would be similar to the one we observe today. If there are multiple multiverses, they could be connected by quantum gravity. In that case, they could exist side by side, as they could be in different ages. Ultimately, quantum gravity could lead to the creation of multiple parallel universes, one for each type of reality.
While we can’t see the other universes, we can observe them and learn about their properties. The biggest galaxy, the cigar galaxy, is approximately 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. A cometary system, the Abell 2667 galaxy cluster, was discovered with Hubble. Lastly, there is the Cosmos Redshift 7, a Lymanalf emitting galaxy. Many other universes are unnamed. Many are named after the object or figure that they represent.
