Ari Melber is an American attorney and journalist who is the host of The Beat with Ari Melber and the chief legal correspondent for MSNBC.

The show premiered on July 24, 2017, and by 2021, it had become the “longest-running” show at “MSNBC’s 6 p.m. hour in network history,” defeating “CNN in total viewers” and outperforming “any previous show before it” against Fox News.

The Beat topped CNN and FOX News in ratings at 6 p.m. in January 2021, averaging 2.6 million viewers per night.

In addition, he started publishing political essays for publications such as The Nation, The Atlantic, Reuters, and Politico. MSNBC took notice and invited him to be a guest host on their show. Melber was named their chief legal correspondent in April 2015.
