Biography of Black Sherif, the sensational Ghanaian musician

Music is life and everyone one loves it but not all of us can become musicians.

The new sensation and young artist to emerge out of Konongo in the Ashanti Region is the man known as Black Sherif.

The talented hiplife musician is an old student of Kumasi Academy ‘KUMACA,” where he was nicknamed “Aaaboy” and that was where he began writing songs and dancing during school days as a hobby.

He became Popular after his sermons songs became hits most notable was the second demon which had over 1 million viewers on YouTube within just five days.


Sherif was born on the 9th of January 2002 and that day was Wednesday. Which indicates that he is just 19 years of age and hopefully next year will turn 20. In a recent interview, he narrated how the name black sheriff came into being.

The Sherif is an Arabic word which means honorable or noble and the blacko is just a ‘ghetto’ term for black since most of his fans found it difficult to mention the full name Black Sheriff.


The vibrant musician was born into an Asante Muslim family popularly known as Asante kramo in the Konongo Zongo community within the Asante/ Akyim constituency.

His father, once a christian converted to Islam and became known as Alhaji Frimpong with his wife auntie mariama who both lived outside the country.

Konongo is his roots that were he was born and bred and also professes to be a true Muslim who is under obliged to follow the tenets of Islam.

Fasting, abstaining from alcohol and indian hemp popularly known as ganja are things he takes seriously despite mentioning it in his songs.

As earlier stated, he started his Junior high school at Konongo Basic school in the Ashanti Region.

Thereafter, he furthered to Kumasi Academy and completed in 2019. Currently pursuing a degree program at the university of professional studies (UPSA) and at level 100.

Black Sherrif

He has on several occasions opined that he doesn’t have a girlfriend and is attracted to his music only and wants to give his full attention to his craft.

Per his assertions, he switched fully into music when he began failing some subjects at ‘KUMACA and was also into serious dancing to battle his colleagues way back and most of his music contents reflect the hustling in the streets which gives him a fair idea of how tough things are in the ghettos.

His first single which made waves was ‘cry for me” and theat earned him the respect of other musicians.

His second track”Money” which he premiered on YouTube garnered about 900,000 views in the month of may 2020.

Then also in that same month this year drop the first sermon which also received huge admiration from music lovers. The second sermon became a banger in the month of July 16th 2021.
