Biography of Kwabena Yeboah, the legendary sports writer

The Ghanaian media and sports fraternity will forever remember the voice of the legendary Kwabena Yeboah which has graced our airwaves for decades during live football matches commentary and sports presentation.

Born in Apam, in the Central Region, the 61 years old has been hosting Ghana Broadcasting Corporation Tv Sports program since February 1994. It all began when a colleague who worked at Radio Ghana introduced him to commentary.

He performed greatly and that enabled him to run commentaries occasionally in Ghana until appointed permanently from 1989 on air.

Born to Dr.Yaw Yeboah medical doctor father and mother Beatrice Yeboah a businesswoman, he fond passion in sports at an early stage of 9 and eventually became a ball boy for “Okwawu Stores”. He moved to Kotoko when Oheneba Siaw his uncle signed for the club.

His dream was to become a lawyer in future but his interest in sports urged him to be a journalist rather than a being a footballer.

His inspiration came from other renowned journalist like Oheneba Charles, Martin Tyler and Archie McPherson. He Attended Apam Methodist primary School, Akosombo experimentary School, Nkawkaw Presbyterian School, Komenda local authority and finally attended the Winneba Secondary School for some years.

He undertook some coaching courses in Switzerland and in England in the year 1995. He is the editor of African sports and has been invited to run several commentaries on international platforms.

He recently celebrated 27 years as host of ” Sports Highlight ” on Gtv. This is the legendary Kwabena Yeboah.
