After they were reported to have traveled to Ukraine to fight against Russia’s soldiers, a British army veteran was slain and another British man went missing.

Scott Sibley, 36, is the first British soldier to be declared dead in the battle.

He was characterized by a friend as the bravest guy he knew. Another person described him as having a “wicked sense of humour.”

It is unclear when he was slain, but it is believed to have occurred recently in southern or eastern Ukraine.

There’s also no word on why they were in Ukraine. The International Legion, which consists of foreign combatants in the country, did not respond to a request for comment.

The missing man’s identity has been withheld by Sky News. Both British nationals’ families have been informed of the issue, and the Foreign Office is assisting them.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) gave no information about the men’s activities in Ukraine.

An FCDO spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a British national has been killed in Ukraine and are supporting their family.”

Mr Sibley used to serve in the Royal Logistics Corps.

His former unit paid tribute to him on its official Facebook page following the news of his death, saying he “showed Commando spirit until the end”.
