Opportunity with Don Jazzy
D’banj then went on to study mechanical engineering at Lagos State University, but he had to drop out owing to frequent strikes and other irregularities at the institution.
In 2001, D’banj traveled to the United Kingdom with the intention of continuing his education as a mechanical engineer, but due to unforeseen circumstances, he was unable to do so and ended up working as a security guard for a studio.
This is where he met Don Jazzy, a composer and producer who was looking for a break. The pair relocated to Lagos, Nigeria, to begin their musical careers. Soon after, they launched “tongolo,” which became a nationwide success. D’banj’s first endorsement arrangement was with Power Fist, an energy drink business, as a result of this.
The start of D’banj’s Music Career
No Long Thing, D’banj’s debut album, was released in 2005. Tongolo was the main song, and it spawned a slew of other tracks. This was his breakout single, and it was a hit. It also gave him the identity of Koko Master,

After months of conjecture and wild speculations, ace producer Don Jazzy announced the break-up of Mo’Hits via his Twitter account. Following the split, D’banj launched DB Records and signed his younger brother Kayswitch, as well as two producers, Jaysleek and Deevee.
D’banj’s Entry to International Fame
D’banj secured a multi-million dollar agreement with Sony in December 2012. “Pan African, multi-album contract with Sony Music‘s RCA Records,” according to the press release.
