Donald Trump promises to personally cover overtime pay for astronauts who were stuck in space for 286 days with his own money
President Donald Trump has promised to pay the overtime wages of the two astronauts who were stuck in space for 286 days. The president promised to foot the cost out of his pocket.
In response to a query about the astronaut’s overtime pay, Trump replied saying, “If I have to I will pay it out of my own pocket.”

The federal government had only been paying them $5 per day for the 9 months (286 days) they were up there. They had only accumulated an amount of $1,430 each in overtime.
President Trump revealed that nobody ever told him about the astronaut’s overtime pay. According to him, it was his first time hearing about it.

The president also used the opportunity to thank the CEO of SpaceX Elon Musk, for his contribution to the recovery of the astronauts.
