Born on the 8th day of September in the year 1970, Haruna Iddrisu was born at Tamale in the Northern Region.
The member of Parliament for Tamale South is also the former minister of Employment and labor relations in Ghana during his party, the National Democratic Congress tenure in office.
Being a strong activist of the NDC, he transitioned into mainstream politics and quickly ascended the office of the national youth organizer in 2002.
Before that, he was a strong student leader who advocated for the wellbeing of students during his days at the university.
He studied at the university of Ghana from which he obtained B.A (hons)in sociology from 1993 to 1997.
For good solid 8 years, he performed exceptionally well as the youth organizer in addition to his responsibilities as a minister of communications and until he stepped down.
In 2004, he stood to contest the legislator position to represent the good people of of the newly formed Tamale South Constituency.
He was later chosen as the ranking member of the Parliamentary select committee on communications.
Haruna in the 2008 Parliamentary elections attained 78.2% of the total votes cast enabling him to retain his seat and then again repeated the feat in the 2012 elections when he garnered 74.6% of the total votes casted.
He was also reelected by his constituents in the 2016 elections and also selected as the minority leader till date.
The family of the ace politician keeps a low profile even though it is known that he is married to one Mrs Mary Safua and he has two children.
