‘Evidence of the refund’- Ghanaians reacts to first lady’s decision to refund any allowances she received

With the office of First Lady Rebecca Akufo Addo revealing she will be refunding all allowances she received from 2017 till date which amounts to almost 900,000 cedis, social media users are doubting if she will indeed do that.

Some are calling on her to show proof when she refunds the allowances she claims she will be refunding.

Based on the multiple backlash from section of Ghanaians on issues of Ghana paying its First Lady based on some recommendations by Professor Yaa Ntiamoah Baidu committee, Mrs Akufo Addo has said in other not to be seen as someone who does not care about the masses, she will refund all monies she was paid from 2017 and would not take any of such salaries recommended by the committee.

She added the reaction from some Ghanaians are in bad taste notwithstanding, she is not ready to take any further allowance and will refund whatever she was paid in the past.

Social media users have thrown doubts on she doing that and asked her to provide proof that indeed she refunded the cash when she does.

The issue of the First Lady getting paid has in the last couple of days dominated social and mainstream media, with many seem to be against move by government to pay the wives of the President and his vice.
