–Fix the country demonstration was halted by the high court
–The Campaign was initiated by concerned Ghanaians demanding change
–Today In Court the supreme court has nullify the decision of the high court
The Supreme Court has set aside a High Court order that barred the #FixTheCountry campaigners from organizing a street protest indefinitely.
The panel, presided over by Justice Yaw Appau held that the order by the High Court was in error. He, therefore, quashed it.
The supreme court judgement nullifies the decision of the High court and called it an error in law. The apex court ruling is a landmark for the rule of law.
The quashed order by the High Court stated that the #FixTheCountry campaigners could not hit the streets until Covid-19 restrictions on public gathering are lifted.
While the campaigners have cleared the first hurdle, there is another case pending at the High Court, asking that the protestors be restrained from hitting the streets. The case will be heard on June 14.
The three Lawyers that defeated the attorney general today in court are Justice Sai, Kenneth Ghartey and Noah Tettey. Social media activists are applauding the judgement and have indicated it is a win for the rule of law.
