Aaron Mooy looks Celtic-bound despite holding talks with three Championship clubs – including Middlesbrough and Norwich City.
Mooy is a free agent having brought his time with Shanghai Port in China to an end this summer.
The 31-year-old was always going to be in-demand as a free agent having enjoyed such a productive time with Huddersfield Town between 2017 and 2019.
Mooy then performed well for Brighton before jetting off to China for a money-spinning move, but he’s now heading back to the United Kingdom.
Aaron Mooy looks Celtic-bound
Sky Sports claim that Celtic are in talks to sign Mooy and talks are progressing well.
Their report adds that Mooy has been in talks with a host of teams in the English Championship as he attempts to find a new club.
Middlesbrough, Norwich City and Swansea City are all thought to have spoken to Mooy in an attempt to sign him.
Those clubs will all be left disappointed though as it looks like Mooy will be joining Celtic instead.
The Scottish Sun report that Mooy is on the verge of signing for Celtic having prioritised a return to Scotland.
Mooy previously played for St Mirren and met his Scottish wife during his time there, meaning this could be an emotional return.
Add in that Mooy’s former Australia boss Ange Postecoglou is in charge at Celtic and this move just makes perfect sense.
Mooy is a classy midfielder who uses the ball brilliantly, and he will be a perfect fit for Postecoglou’s style of play at Celtic.
Mooy has also proven all he has to prove in the Championship having immediately won promotion during his time with Huddersfield.
Celtic can offer a title challenge and a route into the Champions League for Mooy, so few can really blame him for snubbing the Championship trio in favour
