‘Fury abused me with voodoo’- Deontay Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott explains why Wilder snubbed Tyson Fury’s attempt to hug or shake him after the fight

Malik Scott, Deontay Wilder’s trainer, explains why the Bronze Bomber turned down Tyson Fury’s offer to hug or shake him after the fight.

After being knocked down in the third round, Wilder, 35, floored Fury, 33, twice in the fourth round in Las Vegas, before Fury rallied to terminate the fight in the 11th round.

Fury was enraged by Wilder’s cheating charges from their second fight in February 2020, with Wilder threatening to wear gloves with thinner padding after becoming enraged with the horse hair used in Fury’s gloves before the match.

Wilder also alleged that his former coach poisoned his water, that his walk-in outfit was too heavy, and that Fury abused him with voodoo.

Following his victory, Fury was upset that Wilder was unable to put his disagreements aside and embrace his heavyweight opponent in the ring, with the 33-year-old criticizing the American’s lack of sportsmanship.

Scott has now claimed that despite putting everything on the line in the ring, Wilder’s stance toward Fury has not changed.

‘Deontay looks at Fury as a man he had serious issues with concerning allegations and things he’d seen,’ he said. ‘After they released all that energy, he still felt the way he felt.’

Wilder is yet to make any excuses himself after Saturday night’s fight, and admitted that he wasn’t ‘good enough’ following his defeat by Fury.

‘I did my best, but it wasn’t good enough tonight. I’m not sure what happened,’ he said.

‘I know that in training he did certain things, and I also knew that he didn’t come in at 277 pounds to be a ballet dancer.

‘He came to lean on me, try to rough me up and he succeeded.’

Malik Scott, also revealed that his fighter broke his hand during the eleven-round contest, and that was taken to hospital but is now recovering in a Las Vegas hotel.

‘I took him up into his room, he’s seen a doctor afterwards,’ he told ESNews after the bout.

‘Everything’s cool… he busted his lip, he broke his hand, broke his finger, knuckle, something like that. But life goes on.’

The latest claim by his team adds to a list of excuses used by the Bronze Bomber since their fight 20 months ago.
