Since 2021, David Madison Cawthorn has served as the United States Representative for North Carolina’s 11th congressional district. He was elected to Congress in 2020 as a member of the Republican Party to replace Republican Mark Meadows.
Cawthorn is the first born in the 1990s and the youngest member of Congress since Jed Johnson Jr.
He sees himself as a constitutional conservative and a Christian. He has been chastised for focusing on provocative speech rather than passing legislation, including incorrectly claiming that the 2020 presidential election was rigged, a charge he has since retracted.
Cawthorn was born in Asheville, North Carolina, on August 1, 1995, to Priscilla and Roger Cawthorn. He was home-schooled through 12th grade in Hendersonville, North Carolina, and played football with the Ashville Saints, a league for home-schooled high school kids. He worked at a Chick-fil-A restaurant as a youngster.
How did Madison cawthorn become handicapped?
He was riding as a passenger in a BMW X3 SUV near Daytona Beach, Florida, when his friend Bradley Ledford fell asleep at the wheel. The SUV crashed into a concrete barrier while Cawthorn’s feet were on the dashboard.
