The professional basketball player was born on August 23, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Kobe Bryant was the youngest of three children and the only son of his parents, Pamela Cox Bryant and former NBA player, Joe Bryant.
Bryant attended high school at Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, located in the Philadelphia suburb of Lower Merion. He was the first freshman in decades to start for Lower Merion’s varsity team.
During his junior year,he was named Pennsylvania Player of the Year while also earning a fourth-team Parade All-American nomination, attracting attention from college recruiters in the process.
Kobe Bryant debuted in the Summer Pro League in Long Beach, California. He was the second youngest player to ever play in an NBA game at 18years, 72 days. After sometime in the NBA, he was now a starter at age 18, 158 days.
