Betty White was married to Allen Ludden three times, from 1963 to 1981. He was an actor and TV personality who appeared on “Password.” In a PEOPLE magazine interview, White explained that she and Mr.
L were “the love of her life.” Although he never dated another woman, he always wanted to be with her. This was one of the reasons he was so successful.
The two met on the game show Password, where they both appeared on the same episode. Ludden had just lost his first wife a week before White’s appearance.
He proposed to her by buying a diamond ring for her. When she initially declined, White said she did not want to marry again, but finally accepted his proposal on Easter.
They married on June 14, 1963. In August 1981, Allen died of stomach cancer. While White and Mr. L had a great relationship, it lasted until Betty’s death.
The couple married on June 14, 1963, and later divorced in 1986. After two years of dating, Allen proposed to Betty. However, she did not want to get married again.
At first, White refused the marriage proposal, but she eventually consented to the marriage. They were married in June of 1963, and were inseparable until his death in June 1981, just a few days before their 18th wedding anniversary.
