It is now official, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare is the New Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service (acting). He has grabbed the big flag of the Ghana Police Service and is ready to sit on the big chair set aside for every distinguished officer who will be made the IGP.
His official duties begin on Sunday, August 1, 2021, and this day will forever remain one of the happiest days in the life of Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, it will not be only him but his entire family, the Ghana Police Serve, and the nation at large.
With smiles all over his cheek, Dr. Dampare has held firmly the flag of the Ghana Police Service and this is an acceptance that he is ready for the Job.He is replacing the immediate past IGP, James Oppong Buanuh who had his pull-out parade just a few days ago.
He is leaving the service as an astute officer, who made policing one of the best in the country even though he had his challenges. He is also leaving at a time when armed robbery cases increased in the last few days.
Even though some criminals were arrested recently before he left office, most Ghanaians believe he could have done better. Now, the mantle is in the hands of COP George Akufo Damapare, a name that commands a lot of respect from the populace, a name which many believe will reduce the cases of armed robberies and other criminal activities in the country to its barest minimum.
A name that is about to change the face of the entire policing where the ordinary Police officer will feel secure in the execution of his/her duties.
The expectations are high on COP George Akufo Damapare and everyone is expectant that he will succeed.
Now, the ball lies in his court and it depends on how he will want to play with it. Ghanaians as usual will always sit at the comfort of their homes and criticize every leader accordingly.
