Karmala Harris Interview with Charlamagne: How it went

The interview with Kamala Harris and Charlamagne has been making waves around the internet because of its unexpected turn.

“I want to know who the real president of this country is, Joe Biden or Joe Manchin.”

Charlamagne asked Harris near the end of their 20-minute conversation, a clear reference to the Senate delaying action on the president’s Build Back Better spending bill after failing to secure support from the West Virginia senator.

A staffer (speculated to be departing spokesperson Symone Sanders by others on social media) could be heard off-screen saying immediately after the question was posed.

“Come on, Charalamagne,” Harris responded as the presenter proceeded to inquire about “the actual president.” “Joe Biden is. And don’t start questioning if he’s the president like a Republican… My name is Kamala Harris, and I’m Vice President.”

“I’m sorry I interrupted, but I don’t think the vice president can hear you.”

“Come on, Charalamagne,” Harris said, as the host continued to ask who “the real president” is. “It’s Joe Biden. And don’t start talking like a Republican, about asking whether or not he’s president… It’s Joe Biden, and I’m vice president and my name is Kamala Harris.”

Harris continued, listing a series of policy initiatives and goals the Biden administration is pursuing.

“The reality is because we are in office, we do things like the child tax credit, It is the work of saying we are going to get lead out of pipes and paint because our babies are suffering because of that.”

The vice president’s notably charged response garnered appreciation from Charlamange.

“I want you to know, that Madame vice president, that Kamala Harris? That’s the one I like,” he said. “That’s the one putting pressure on people in Senate hearings, that’s the one I’d like to see more often out here in these streets.”
