According to records acquired by Fox Sports, NBC, and ESPN, the 62-year-old New York Giants star has been charged with failing to register as a sex offender.
Taylor is suspected of neglecting to notify authorities of a change of address, which is required of sex offenders, according to FoxSports640’s Andy Slater, who was the first to report the arrest on Friday.

Lawrence Julius Taylor (born February 4, 1959) is an American retired professional football player who played linebacker for the New York Giants in the National Football League from 1981 to 1993. (NFL).
Taylor is the first and only defensive player in NFL history to earn the Associated Press NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in his first season.
Taylor was a disruptive force at outside linebacker in the NFL throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, and is credited with influencing defensive game plans, defensive pass rushing methods, offensive line blocking techniques, and offensive formations.

After pleading guilty to sexual misbehavior and soliciting a prostitute, Taylor was required to register as a sex offender in 2011. Following his arrest in 2010, the former NFL great claimed that he mistook the 16-year-old lady for a 19-year-old woman.
The Giants great was arrested last week for sex offender charges related to failing to notify authorities of his new residence.
Taylor’s address change was suggested by local authorities, according to his attorney, Arthur Aidala:
“Unfortunately, he is in the process of a divorce, and his local police department advised he sleep at a nearby hotel,” Aidala told the Associated Press. “Mr. Taylor was a constant resident of the marital home where he was registered, but he was sleeping outside the home on the advise of local police enforcement.” We are optimistic that Lawrence’s case will be settled positively at the first court session.”
Taylor has had a slew of other legal issues throughout the years. Taylor, who won two Super Bowls with the Giants, was arrested in Florida in September 2016 for driving under the influence after colliding with a stopped police car on the state highway in Palm Beach County. In June 2017, he pled guilty to the offense.
Taylor has also been arrested for DUI in 2016 and fled the scene of an accident in 2009. He struggled with drug addiction both during and after his playing career, failing many drug tests for cocaine as a player, and was detained on multiple occasions for attempting to acquire drugs.
Taylor was one of the finest players in the history of the National Football League. From 1981 through 1993, he was a linebacker with the Giants, recording 142 regular-season sacks and helping the club win Super Bowls in 1987 and 1991.
