Maine universities are complying to Trump’s executive order so they can receive federal funding
Some universities in Maine are coming around and complying with Trump’s executive order that prevents trans from participating in women’s sports.
Eight public universities in Maine were subject to a temporary pause in federal funding during an ongoing battle over trans inclusion in women’s and girls’ sports but have now agreed to comply with President Trump’s executive order.

Earlier this week, Trump cut $175 million in federal funding to the University of Pennsylvania for refusing to comply with his executive order.
Trump cut funding to 8 public colleges in Maine after the state refused to comply with his executive order to keep men out of women’s sports.
Trump had initially threatened and announced that the state of Maine would not receive any federal funding.
The threat began after the state governor defied his executive order that banned men from women’s sports leading to a form of “brawl” between the president and the governor at the White House.
