Jane Ross was the wife of Bob Ross. The two married in 1977 but a sad event occurred in 1992 when Jane Ross was no more counted among the living.

Robert Norman Ross popularly known as Bob Ross born in October 29, 1942, was an American painter, art instructor, and television host.

Bob was the man behind the success of Joy of Painting, a television program that started in 1983 till 1994 on PBS in the United States, CBC in Canada, Europe, similar channels in the Latin part of America and among other countries.

Bob gradually became known worldwide through his consistency presence on the internet.

In 1961, when Bob was 18 years old, he was enlisted in the United States Air Force and started his service as a medical record technician.  

He reached the rank of master sergeant where he served as the first sergeant of the clinic of Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska, where in the history of his life, he first saw the snow and mountains that later appeared in his paintings.

Bob established his technique of painting during the daily work breaks.

In his 20th year of the Air Force career, Bob showed an interest in painting after he attended an art class at the Anchorage U.S.O. club.
