Harry Styles is a singer, songwriter, and actor from England. In 2010, he debuted on the British music competition series The X Factor as a solo competitor.

He was welcomed back after being eliminated to join the boy band One Direction, who went on to become one of the best-selling boy bands of all time before taking an indefinite hiatus in 2016.

Harry Edward Styles, the son of landlady Anne Twist (née Selley, formerly Cox) and finance worker Desmond “Des” Styles, was born on February 1, 1994, in Redditch, Worcestershire, England.

He relocated to the village of Holmes Chapel in Cheshire with his parents and older sister, Gemma, when he was a toddler.

When he was seven years old, his parents split, and his mother later remarried business partner John Cox, though they divorced years later. Styles has an elder stepbrother named Mike and a stepsister named Amy as a result of her third marriage in 2013 to Robin Twist, who died of cancer in 2017.

Styles stated he had a “wonderful childhood” and that his parents were always supportive of him.

His grandfather gave him a karaoke machine when he was a kid, and the first song he recorded was Elvis Presley’s “The Girl of My Best Friend.” Styles was a member of the band White Eskimo, which won a local Battle of the Bands tournament, while attending Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School.

He started working part-time at the W. Mandeville Bakery in Holmes Chapel when he was 16 years old.
