– Nigeria Officially Suspends Twitter From Operating In Their Country
– Twitter Initially Deleted Buhari’s Comment On Its Platform
– Nigeria Government Angered By This Move
Nigeria has indefinitely suspended twitter in the country. Nigeria’s information minister Lai Mohammed today indicated that activities on the U.S. social media giant “are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.”
This has received huge backlash from sine sections of Nigerians who described it as an autocratic decision.
The decision by the Nigerian government to suspend Twitter comes two days after the social media giant deleted a remark on President Muhammadu Buhari’s official account for breaking its regulations. Did Twitter push Buhari and his government to the edge?
This is a total clampdown on world’s best media in Nigeria,it’s totally a wrong step being taken by Nigerian government, this suspension of Twitter in Nigeria by Nigerian government will expose the more government deeds to the whole world to see.
This is a clampdown on international media, the world will see it as a clampdown on freedom of speech, clampdown on human rights, and clampdown on media.
It’s better they rescind /retract their footsteps in order to save their government from another world condemnation. It’s not good for a government to be fighting with the media who showcase her services to whole world to see.
