NYPD detective faces backlash after appearing in a rap video wearing a G-string

A detective at the NYPD is under fire after showing up in a rap video with a G-string on. Melissa Mercado is currently facing backlash for pole dancing in a music video.

Mercado is under fire for allegedly partaking in rapper S-Quire’s “Doin That” music video. Mercado is currently assigned to the Bronx Special Victims Unit and has been employed by the NYPD since 2018.

It is unclear if Mercado will face any disciplinary action as this is not the first time an NYPD personnel has been seen in such a position.

It’s unclear what, if any, department discipline Mercado could face over the sultry performance, but her moonlighting gig isn’t the first time an NYPD cop was caught in a compromising position.

One rookie cop took heat in 2023 when she was caught dancing on the job with a turnstile jumper at an Upper West Side subway station — with her moves posted on three TikTok videos.

Another also happened in 2022 when Bronx cop Vera Mekuli was caught on video giving a married lieutenant a lap dance during a police party.

Although she has received several criticisms, other people on the force feel it is not wrong as “she’s not wearing NYPD paraphernalia. Nothing in the video says she’s a detective.”
