NYPD detective taken off all active cases after appearing in a raunchy music video

A detective of the New York Police Department (NYPD) who went viral after appearing in a raunchy music video has been taken off all active cases she is involved in.

Melissa Mercado who has been with the department since 2018 appeared in rapper S-Quire’s “Doin That” music video. In the video, Mercado was seen G-string, twerking, and dancing on a pole.

Melissa faced several backlash from her police and social media users while others also alleged it wasn’t illegal as it was outside her office hours.

Mercado has currently been taken off active sex crimes cases pending the results of a police review. Before this, she was on the “naughty list” deemed not credible by the Bronx DA office.

Melissa is not the first NYPD officer to ever engage in such an act. Several other NYPD officers have been seen in similar videos in the past.
