According the daughter of the couple, she used to communicate with them via text messages after their arrest until she stopped receiving any messages about two weeks ago.
Although the reason for their arrest is unknown, the couple were known to teach children and mothers as part of their project which was approved by local authorities. However there is a ban by the Taliban on women working and girls under 12 being educated.
Taliban official sources told BBC that they have arrested British nationals who they believe were working for a non-governmental organization in Bamiyan province.

Another official also said the couple were been arrested after using a plane without informing local police headquarters or the border security forces.
Although the UK foreign office is aware that two British nationals have been detained in Afghanistan, assistance is limited because UK does not recognize the Taliban and has no embassy in Kabul.
The children of the couple have also written to the Taliban pleading that their parents be released.
