In Daytona, Florida, people were shocked at the recent news that an older woman had shot and killed her husband.
Ellen Gilland was charged with fatally shooting her terminally ill husband in hospital on Daytona Beach. Ellen pleaded guilty.

According to her, it was his wish. She admitted to the court that her husband had guided her hand to his head before she pulled the trigger.
After the incident, Gilland was seen barricaded in the room. She was too terrified to come out.

She was initially charged to face up to 10 years in prison, she was given a sentence of almost a year. The judge incited the trauma inflicted on hospital staff and law enforcement.
Although her attorney was hoping for probation, he was still satisfied with the reduced sentence because of her age.
