Peter Matera is a former Australian rules footballer. He played for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL).

Peter was born on 3 April 1969 in Wagin in Western Australia. He is the third child of his parents. Peter has 7 siblings; 6 brothers and a sister. He played football since he was a child.

In 1989, Peter was drafted in the fourth round of the national draft from South Fremantle in the Western Australian Football League. In 1991, he played his debut game for the Eagle. He spent his whole career playing for West Coast.

His accolades include 2× AFL Premiership player: (1992, 1994), Norm Smith Medal: (1992), 5× All Australian team: (1991, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997), West Coast Club Champion: (1997), and Indigenous Team of the Century 2005. He was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2006.
