Minutes ago we reported that some three member gang located in the upper East region were picked up by the police for allegedly receiving Stolen motorbikes.
A detailed report of the whole incident has finally been released by the police service and the good news is that they were able to retrieve the particular motorbike robbery that led to their arrest.
A statement from the police service reads:
The Police in Bawku in the Upper East region, have arrested one Solomon Alima 28 years and Mumuni Bawa, 33 years for stealing and dishonestly receiving respectively.
Suspect Alima sold a stolen motorbike to suspect Bawaand when they were exchanging motorbike for cash at dawn of Sunday 4th July 2021, the Police arrested them following tip-off.
A search at the residence of Bawa at Gingande a suburb of Bawku, led to the retrieval of another motorbike and eight fake motorbike registration numbers shown in the attached picture.
Several notes of dollars (USD) suspected to be fake were also retrieved. Suspect Bawa admitted to regular purchase of stolen motorbikes from different persons and sale of same at Bawku and surrounding communities or at Dapango,a community in neighbouring Togo.
In another exercise, suspect Atampulgri Akolgo, 44 years was also arrested for the robbery of a motorbike by the Regional Police.
Police warns of previous sale of stolen motorbikes to innocent purchasers and encourage such purchasers to come forward to assist investigation.
