Heather O’Rourke was an American child actress. She had her breakthrough starring as Carol Anne Freeling in the supernatural horror film Poltergeist III.
Heather died on February 1, 1988 (aged 12) in San Diego, California.

Last June, a young actress named Heather O’Rourke, was found dead on an operating table in a San Diego hospital. She was the star of the upcoming film Poltergeist III, which opens this week.
A recent autopsy confirmed that the actress died of a heart attack caused by intestinal stenosis. O’Rourke’s mother filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her doctors.
In May 2017, a pathologist diagnosed the actress with a bowel obstruction. The bowel blockage was a possible cause of her sudden death. The actress, who was twelve, was in the seventh grade and attended Tierra del Sol Middle School in Lakeside, California.
She had been treated for Crohn’s disease in 1987, but her condition was not severe and her death is not considered to be a case of Crohn’s disease.
After her diagnosis, Heather O’Rourke spent a few days in the hospital. She was unable to swallow her food and began to vomit. Her body was in such a state of shock that her fingers and toes turned blue.
Eventually, she collapsed on the floor and died. Her mother, Kathleen O’Rourke, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her doctors.
