Referee switched to 100 meters race after Home team supporters chase him for awarding penalty to the away side

A Referee in the Ghana Second tier league has been chased like Common Thief for awarding Penalty to away team.

The increasing level of insecurity in the country is not only about Armed Robbery of clashes between police/Military and the youth as it has now extended to the football fraternity.

During a game at the Sunyani Coronation park between Bring Ahafo United and Real Tamale United, RTU, Referee identified as Maxwell Hanson awarded a penalty to the away side after a foul by the home team in their penalty box.

The decision didn’t go down well with supporters of the home team who pounced on him for awarding the penalty against their side.

The Referee run a real race for his life in attempt to get away from the angry supporters but was sadly caught and beaten according to a video available to us from the scene.

This is not the first time a sad incident like this is happening to our referees and the earlier the Ghana Football association finds solutions to it the better for our football image otherwise a time will come where referees will no longer be interested in officiating matches due to their security concerns.
