Riyad Karim Mahrez is a professional footballer. He plays as a winger for Premier League Club Manchester City. He is also the captain of the Algeria national team.

Mahrez was born on 21 February 1991 in Sarcelles, France, to an Algerian family. He has three siblings; a brother and two sisters. There is also no information on his educational background.

He began his career as a youth player for French club AAS Sarcelles. In 2009 he began his professional career by playing for Quimper. He played for only one season before moving to Le Havre, spending a total of three years with them, initially playing for their reserve team and then becoming a first-team regular.

In January 2014, signed for Leicester City in the EPL helping them win the Championship and promotion to the Premier League at the end of his first season. He was among the squad who helped Leicester City win the Premier League. He signed for Manchester City in 2018 and has been playing there since.

Although he was born in France, Mahrez plays international football for Algeria. He made his international debut for Algeria in 2014 and represented them at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021, winning the 2019 tournament. In the 2015–16 season, he was the Algerian Footballer of the Year In 2016 he was named CAF’s African Footballer of the Year.

Riyad is the son of Halima Mahrez and Ahmed Mahrez. They had four kids together; two boys and two girls.

Ahmen Mahrez died of a heart attack when Riyad was 15 years old.
