Vicky Leandros is a Greek singer who lives in Germany. Leandros Papathanasiou, a singer, musician, and composer, is her father (also known as Leo Leandros as well as Mario Panas). She rose to international prominence in 1967 after placing fourth for Luxembourg in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “L’amour est bleu,” which became a worldwide smash. Her career was further cemented when she won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1972 with the song “Après Toi,” once again representing Luxembourg.

Vicky Leandros was elected to the Greek town council of Piraeus on the Pasok list on October 15, 2006. Piraeus’ cultural and international development was her responsibility. She also served as the Deputy Mayor of Piraeus. Leandros announced her decision to leave Greek politics with immediate effect in June 2008, explaining that she had misjudged the work load and time required to fulfill her political obligations, and that it had become difficult to reconcile those responsibilities with her singing career.

Leandros was married to Greek entrepreneur Ivan Zissiadis from 1982 to 1986, the father of her son, Leandros Zissiadis (born 6 June 1980). In May 1986, she married Enno von Ruffin, the son of Freiherr Franz von Ruffin. Since 1982, Enno von Ruffin has owned and managed Gut Basthorst, his rural estate. After 19 years of marriage, Leandros and Enno divorced in 2005. Maximiliane von Ruffin (“Milana”; born 31 January 1985) and Alessandra von Ruffin are the couple’s two daughters (“Sandra”; born 2 December 1986).
