-The use of Twitter has been banned in Nigeria.
– The Federal Government announced the decision today through the Ministry of Information and culture.
– Citizens are heavily exploring the possibility of remaining on the platform despite its ban
Nigeria’s Government has sends shockwaves to the country when they announced their decision to suspend the use of Twitter in the country.
The decision is as a result of Twitter deleting a controversial civil war statement made by the First Gentleman of the Federal Republic, President Buhari.
“Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through (that) war, will treat them in the language they understand. We are going to be very hard sooner than later,” the Presidents tweet that sparked controversies
As painful as it may be, Twitter users in Nigeria cannot do anything about the suspension but can actually use some smart ways to continue their stay online.
Mamy methods were suggested and one that is making rounds is for Nigerians to change their location settings to a nearby country where the app would recognize that particular country as where the user is currently and not Nigeria.
“If you still want to continue tweeting, go to settings in tour Twitter and change your country to Cameroon or Ghana”
Of course you already know the country most Nigerians will prefer is Ghana but another smart way to get your Twitter activity firing in Nigeria is to get a very powerful VPN an use it to block your current location.
