“The old relationship we had with the United States is over” – Canadian Prime Minister
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the end of deep economic, security, and military ties with the United States following Trump’s tariff threats, warning that all countermeasures are on the table.
“The old relationship we had with the United States based on deepening integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperation is over,” Mark said during a press conference in Ottawa.
The new Canadian prime Minister emphasized that they are not going to respond to the new tariffs by “backing down” they are rather going to fight it. He stated that they are going to use any means to combat these tariffs.
“We will defend forcefully, nothing is off the table to defend our workers and our country,” Carney explained. “I reject any attempt to weaken Canada, to wear us down, to break us so that America can own us. That will never happen,” he continued.

He stated that although it is unclear what the United States is going to do next, it is very clear that Canadians have the power and they are masters in their own homes. He also said it is clear that they can control their own destiny.
“We can give ourselves much more than any foreign government, including the United States, can ever take away,” Mark emphasized.
