The Glorious Word Power Minstry has released a communique to address the arrest and prosecution of its head pastor, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah.
An earlier report suggested that the famous pastor and some junior pastors attacked police officers on Sunday after they came to the church premises to arrest him but the church has called that a lie.
The arrest was from the fact that Rev. Owusu Bempah traveled with hired thugs to the apartment of Nana Agradaa aka Evangelist Patricia Oduro to threaten his life
According to the church, their junior pastors did not start the fight but they were rather defending themselves after the police attacked them.
They added that gunshots were fired and the manner of the arrest generated into a scuffle that attracted passerbys to rush to the church premises.
“…The church confirms that there was an altercation outside of the church premises on Sunday 12th September 2021 that got one of our junior pastors manhandled and arrested by some unidentified men. The manner of arrest generated into a scuffle that attracted people in the neighbourhood and the church to the scene.”
“The gunshots by the then unidentified men and the call for help from the neighbourhood caught the attention of Apostle Dr Isaac Owusu-Bempah who halted his ministration at the church and moved out to the scene to get details of what was happening.”
“Upon being informed that one of his junior pastors has been arrested, he followed up to the Dansoman Police Station and was later informed that he (Junior Pastor) had been taken to the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, where Apostle Dr Isaac Owusu-Bempah proceeded to.” part of the release read.
