Tilian Pearson (born July 12, 1987), popularly known by his mononym Tilian, is a singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer from Clearwater, Florida. He is the clean vocalist for Dance Gavin Dance, a post-hardcore band. Pearson began his musical career as the lead singer and guitarist for the progressive rock band Tides of Man, with whom he released an extended play and two studio albums until departing in 2010.
Pearson temporarily joined the American rock bands Saosin and Emarosa following the departure of their respective vocalists after leaving Tides of Man, but never recorded any songs with the bands.
He joined Dance Gavin Dance in August 2012, replacing Jonny Craig, and released the album Acceptance Speech (2013). Instant Gratification, the band’s first top-forty US Billboard 200 album, was released two years later to great acclaim.
Tree City Sessions, a live album, and Mothership, their seventh studio album, both charted at number 13 on the Billboard 200 in 2016. Artificial Selection (2018) was the band’s eighth studio album, and it was followed by Afterburner (2020), both of which charted at number 15 and 14 in the United States, respectively.
Tilian has released four studio albums and two extended plays as a solo artist. Material Me (2013) and Perfect Enemy (2015), his first and second studio albums, were both released on Vital Recordings, an indie musical company.
Rise Records published his third and fourth studio albums, The Skeptic (2018) and Factory Reset (2021), respectively. Our Last Night’s 2018 rendition of Post Malone’s “Better Now,” Don Broco’s 2019 single “Action” with Tyler Carter, Taka Moriuchi, and Caleb Shomo, and Adventure Club’s 2021 single “Drive” are just a few of the tracks he’s appeared on.
