Trump administration flagged hundreds of words for restriction or removal from government documents

The New York Times published a list of about 200 terms that the Trump administration reportedly prohibits or avoids.

As President Trump seeks to purge the federal government of “woke” initiatives, agencies have flagged hundreds of words to limit or avoid, according to a compilation of government documents.

The list includes words such as activists, anti-racism, belonging, breastfeeding, climate crisis, community diversity, disability, discrimination, equality, feminism, gender, immigrants, LGBT, mental health, minorities, oppression, orientation, pregnant, racial justice, racism, sex, transgender, and victims.

Some of these words were banned in specific contexts, such as references to transgender people that “do not align with the government’s current position,” the article noted.

The New York Times also reported changes or deletions of terms on 250 federal government websites, but it suggests that the actual number of affected sites is probably higher.
