Two planes nearly collide at the Chicago Airport

A commercial plane and a private jet almost had a head on collision on the runway at the Chicago Midway International Airport.

After a Southwest Airlines plane had landed on the runway, a private jet also showed up at the other end of the runway facing the commercial plane head one.

The Southwest flight 2504 immediately took off in order to avoid the collision. The crew made a go-round before landing safely once again to prevent a major potential incident.

“The crew followed safety procedures and the flight landed safely without incident,” spokesperson told the press.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the private jet entered the runway without authorization and they are still investigating the incident.
