Terrence Howard is an American actor who was born on March 11, 1969. Howard broke into the mainstream with a series of television and film roles between 2004 and 2006. His first major roles were in the 1995 films Dead Presidents and Mr. Holland’s Opus. For his part in Hustle & Flow, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor.

Winnie Mandela, Ray, Lackawant to Blues, Crash, Four Brothers, Big Momma’s House, Get Rich or Die Trying, Idlewild, Biker Boyz, August Rush, The Brave One, and Prisoners are among Howard’s other notable films. In the first Iron Man film, Howard played James “Rhodey” Rhodes. In the television series Empire, he played Lucious Lyon, the main character. Shine Through It, his debut album, was released in September 2008. Howard announced his retirement from acting in September 2019 because he was “weary of faking.” Howard, on the other hand, was cast in the British sci-fi/thriller film Beneath on February 1, 2021.

Howard was born on March 11, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois, to multiracial parents Tyrone and Anita (née Williams) Howard, both of whom had African and English ancestry.

Minnie Gentry, an actress, was his great-grandmother. Howard grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and had a difficult upbringing. Terrence was beaten by his physically violent father, and when he was two years old, he witnessed his father stabbing another man in the Santa Line Slaying. His father was sentenced to 11 months in prison for manslaughter. Following his father’s release, Howard’s parents split. His great-grandmother was his primary caregiver. On May 11, 1993, she died at the age of 77.
