Jimmy G, also known as James Richard Garoppolo, was born on November 2, 1991, and plays quarterback for the National Football League’s San Francisco 49ers (NFL). At Eastern Illinois, where he played collegiate football, he set school records for career passing yards and passing touchdowns and received the Walter Payton Award as a senior.
The New England Patriots drafted Garoppolo in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, and he spent his first four seasons filling in for Tom Brady.
After being acquired by the 49ers in a trade near the close of the 2017 campaign, Garoppolo helped a 1-10 team turn things around by winning its final five games. He assisted the 49ers in finishing with the best record in the National Football Conference (NFC) in 2019 and qualifying for Super Bowl LIV.
His statistically best year was the same one, with 3,978 passing yards, 27 touchdown passes, 13 interceptions, and a passer rating of 102.0. However, injuries have also plagued him during his time in San Francisco, preventing him from playing for the majority of the 2018 and 2020 seasons.
What ethnicity is Jimmy Garoppolo?
Jimmy Garoppolo is an Italian by nationality. He is from a “tight-knit, big Italian family”; his paternal grandparents, Anthony and Rose Garoppolo, were both Italian immigrants, while his maternal grandparents, Theodore J. Malec and Harriet D. Seidel, were of Polish and German descent, respectively.
