Toulon reports that Cheslin Kolbe has experienced yet another setback in his injury recovery after being sidelined for a number of weeks. The Springbok player underwent successful surgery on Wednesday after breaking his jaw during the match against Benetton last weekend.

This weekend’s games for his previous teams, Toulouse and Toulon, are cancelled. Kolbe lost to a South African colleague named Pieter-Steph du Toit in the World Rugby Player of the Year competition for 2019.

He had previously played for Western Province in the Currie Cup, the Stormers in Super Rugby, and Toulouse in the Top14. With the Boks, he won the World Cup, the Rugby Championship, and the Lions Series.

What transpired during a game with Cheslin Kolbe

Toulon suffered a fatal blow when South African wing Cheslin Kolbe broke his jaw and required several weeks of recovery time. The 28-year-old World Cup champion suffered an injury last Saturday during a match for the European Challenge Cup against Benetton.

Kolbe received good care on Wednesday, but the team announced that he would be “kept out of play for several weeks.” The game against Toulouse on Saturday will now take place in Marseille’s Stade Velodrome, which has a seating capacity of 60 000 without Kolbe.

Additionally, he will see Toulon battle for one of the Top 14’s top six play-off spots. They are presently in ninth with 51 points, five more than Racing.

The teams that the Top 14 will face during the regular season are Toulouse, Bordeaux-Begles, Pau, and Racing. On May 8, Toulon and London Irish will play each other in a Challenge Cup quarterfinal. Another blow for Kolbe, who was forced to delay his Toulon debut until late December of last year owing to a calf injury he suffered while training with the Springboks in September.

Kolbe missed the final four Rugby Championship games for the Boks because of the injury and the end-of-year internationals.

Cheslin Kolbe, a South African rugby player, is currently where? Injury News

Kolbe, 28, might only play a minor role in the Rugby Championship, which begins in three weeks, if the worst diagnosis of a likely broken jaw is confirmed. Kolbe exited the field during the opening period.

With just two backline changes, the Springboks defeated the Welsh 30-14 at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday to clinch a series victory over them. Willie le Roux was brought in for Kolbe.

On Saturday, August 6, the Springboks and All Blacks will play at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit to kick off the 2022 Rugby Championship. The two sides would square off once more at Ellis Park in Johannesburg a week later.

Before deciding on their Rugby Championship starting lineup, the Springbok management team will also confirm the availability of seasoned No. 8 Duane Vermeulen and scrumhalf Cobus Reinach.

The Worry of Cheslin Kobe’s Wife Following His Jaw Break

Cheslin Kolbe’s spouse is Layla Cupido. The couple exchanged vows on a significant Stellenbosch property in January 2018. When Cheslin signed with Toulouse, they relocated from South Africa to France, and they are now concerned about his broken jaw.

Actually, there isn’t a lot of personal data available about her. Layla Cupido, the wife of Cheslin Kolbe, appears to be in her 30s or early 35s.

However, her husband is currently 27 years old. He was born on October 28, 1993, in Kraaifontein, South Africa. When the CPA approached Cheslin for a selfie in front of Cape Town’s Newlands Stadium, it was love at first sight.

A year later, in September 2017, after a game in front of the home crowd, Cheslin made an unexpected proposal.
