Jill Tracy Jacobs Biden (born June 3, 1951) has been the United States’ First Lady since 2021. From 2009 to 2017, she served as the country’s second lady while her husband was vice president. Biden has been an English lecturer at Northern Virginia Community College since 2009.
She holds master’s degrees in education and English from West Chester University and Villanova University, in addition to a bachelor’s degree in English and a doctoral degree in education from the University of Delaware.
For thirteen years, she educated teenagers with emotional difficulties in high school English and reading classes, and she also gave lessons to patients at a mental health facility.
Biden taught writing and English at Delaware Technical & Community College from 1993 to 2008. Biden is reportedly the first spouse of a vice president or president to work in a paid position while her husband was in office.
She was raised in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, but was born in Hammonton, New Jersey. In 1977, she married Joe Biden, becoming the stepmother of his two boys from his first marriage, Beau and Hunter.
Additionally, Biden and her husband share a daughter named Ashley Biden, who was born in 1981. She co-founded the Book Buddies program, the Biden Foundation, Delaware Boots on the Ground, and Joining Forces with Michelle Obama.
She also founded the non-profit organization known as the Biden Breast Health Initiative. She has had two children’s novels as well as a memoir published.
