Jean-Louis Xavier Trintignant was a French actor, filmmaker, and racecar driver.

Trintignant was born on 11 December 1930 in Piolenc, Vaucluse. He is the only son and child of his parents. Jean graduated from La Femis in France. There is not much information about his early life.

Jean began his career in the  1950s with theater roles and production. He made his motion picture debut in 1955. He rose to fame after he appeared in And God Created Woman (1956). He took a break for several years to finish his mandatory military service. He directed and appeared in several movies and television films.

Louis was also a rally driver. He competed in several high-level rallies in the 1970s and 1980s, including several rounds of the World Rally Championship. In 1981, he won the Monte Carlo Rally in France.

Jean-Louis Trintignant died on June 17, 2022, in his home at age 81. His cause of death was prostate cancer.
