Mike DeWine is the 70th Governor of Ohio and an American politician and attorney. He began his career as a prosecutor before being elected to the Ohio Senate as a member of the Republican Party.
DeWine went on to serve as a United States representative from 1983 to 1991, as the 59th lieutenant governor of Ohio under George Voinovich from 1991 to 1994, as a United States senator from 1995 to 2007, and as the 50th attorney general of Ohio from 2011 to 2019.
DeWine was born and raised in the Ohio town of Yellow Springs. Jean Ruth (Liddle) and Richard Lee DeWine are his parents.
He was raised as a Roman Catholic and is of Irish origin. DeWine graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with a bachelor’s degree in teaching in 1969 and a Juris Doctorate from Ohio Northern University College of Law in 1972.
