Raj Shrikant Thackeray is the chairman of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), a regional political party in India. He is Bal Thackeray’s nephew and cousin to Shiv Sena president and Maharashtra’s 19th and current Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray.

Shrikant Thackeray (Bal Thackeray’s younger brother) and Kunda Thackeray (Bal Thackeray’s wife Meena Thackeray’s younger sister) were his parents. He learned tabla, guitar, and violin as a child. Thackeray attended Mumbai’s Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Art and graduated with honors. Following graduation, he worked as a cartoonist for Marmik, Bal Thackeray’s weekly magazine.

Thackeray is married to Sharmila Wagh, the daughter of Mohan Wagh, a Marathi film photographer, producer, and director. Amit Thackeray is their son, while Urvashi Thackeray is their daughter. His children went to Bombay Scottish School, Mahim, a prestigious Mumbai English medium school founded in 1847 by Scottish Christian missionaries.
